The People’s Joker had a rough time getting out to the public, originally set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before Warner Bros. sent a cease and desist letter to have it removed from the roster. Cut to… Nightmares Film Festival comes to the rescue, understanding that the film is its own take on the tale of the Joker and in many ways a form of “Parody” which is protected under copyright law. So here we are with a final product finally hitting homes with its Blu-ray release. 

Our very own Michael Petrey had the chance to see the film at the Nightmares Film Festival and had this to say about the film: 

“The People’s Joker is a no holds barred surrealistic acid trip within a familiar world of Batman, but through an ever-evolving creative lens. I went into this film ‘blind’, aside from the controversy of the film being pulled from TIFF over ‘rights issues.’ Despite the last minute TIFF withdrawal, it managed to screen at the Nightmares Film Festival in Columbus, OH which I attended.
