OUR REVIEW:
After seeing all of the second season of The Afterparty, besides the finale, I must say the finale has to come swinging because this season feels enormously unnecessary and lacking the laughs of its predecessor.
Sam Richardson, Zoe Chao and Tiffany Haddish return and bring along with them all the more reason for this show to have started anew. Richardson and Haddish are partners this time through and Chao is taking on Ruchardson’d role from the first, on the solo hunt for the truth. A plethora of new talent, all mainly related to Chao’s Zoë bring a lot more focal points to the story but none that maintain any interest apart from a former love interest of Zoë’s Travis as played by Paul Walter Hauser. Joining Hauser is Anna Konkle, Ken Jeong, John Cho, Poppy Liu, Elizabeth Perkins, Jack Whitehall and Zach Woods.
Lacking the suspense, the charm and the distinctive humor that made the first season so spectacular - The Afterparty 2 should be left as a cold case, unless it’s able to turn everything around in the next thirty minutes.
