SYNOPSIS:

A mute make-up artist working on a slasher movie being shot in Moscow, is locked in the studio after hours. While there, she witnesses a brutal murder, and must escape capture.

SHE WON'T BE SILENCED.

“A slickly crafted horror/thriller with some surprising comic twists.” Mute Witness finds its way to 4K UHD through a limited edition Arrow Video release and is one to watch due to its  featuring of the final performance of legendary Star Wars actor Sir Alec Guinness.

Premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in 1995, before being released in several other markets garnering just over a million in its box office returns. As of 6/19/24, the film has achieved an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes and generally favorable reviews from the public.

Stacked with two brand new audio commentaries, two visual essays and all the returning bonuses of previous entries. Also in true Arrow fashion the limited edition release comes with a reversible cover, a double-sided foldout poster and a collector’s booklet.

Mute Witness is presented in its original aspect ratio of 2.35:1 with stereo sound. The restored 4K master was approved by director Anthony Waller and provided by Jinga Films. The picture isn’t outstanding in comparison to its previous 1080p offering, in fact noticeably worse in the grain and clarity.

Where the visuals have suffered in its “upgrade”, the audio remains excellent. Bringing a fun contrast to the quiet nature of our lead, surrounded by a haunting score and some exaggerated screams. This aspect equates to a delightful audible experience for any true horror fanatic, especially for those seeking a foreign horror that’s fallen through the cracks.
