Based on the true stories of the infamous Barnett family, Good American Family is essentially a series of extremely overdone reenactments of the stories shared in the MAX docuseries The Curious Case of Natalia Grace. 

 

Being two episodes in, I am starting to see the skew in narrative trust and I am so uneasy watching this, knowing what actually happened to this little girl. There are too many differing points of view to some of the stories from the documentary portrayed in this show that just feel like a further attempt at validating the testimonies of the Barnett family over Natalia's. 

 

Unfortunately the reality is that a child ended up in the hands of the wrong people, surrounded by even more people who failed her along the way. I am having a difficult time trying to gauge who this show is for and what the real intention was in making this. So far from what I've seen, the show's tone deaf floaty and campy nature is deterring me from continuing.
